The Future Is Now
"The past is gone, now is the future."
A Note on This Song
Some songs don’t entertain you. They interrupt you.
This one is simple. Beats, and the below lyrics repeating over and over:
"The past is gone, now is the future."
No verses to hide inside. No dramatic explanation.
Just a reminder that doesn’t let you live in someday.
The future isn't a destination you arrive at when life finally quiets down.
The future is now, and it’s being built in real time through the decisions you’re making (or avoiding) in this exact moment.
When It Clicked
The first time I heard Dr. Joe Dispenza explain how we live from the past, it landed like a slap and a blessing at the same time.
He said :
95% of who we are by the time we're 35 years old is a memorized set of behaviors, emotional reactions, unconscious habits, hardwired attitudes, beliefs and perceptions that function like a computer program.
Most of us think we're living in the present. Planning, dreaming, moving forward—thinking about our goals, excited about the future.
But so often, we’re actually living on autopilot, repeating subconscious programs shaped entirely by the past.
After hearing that, I realized, maybe my reactions, decisions, and lack of action on certain things were being shaped by shame, disappointments, and trauma.
If you believe your thoughts have something to do with your destiny, and you can’t think greater than how you feel, then by very definition of emotions… you’re thinking in the past.
When emotions like fear, guilt, stress, or worry are driving your thoughts, you’re not creating from the present. You’re recycling the familiar past into a predictable future.
Breaking this pattern with awareness and nervous system regulation, can free one from the loops and undesired outcomes.
The Choice is the Future
The future is built through conscious decisions about what you are willing to sustain and what you are no longer willing to prop up.
That’s what defines your path forward.
And that’s why the future is now.
It shows up in the choices you make today.
In the risks you take today.
In the conversations you have today.
Every choice, or absence of choice, shapes your story.
So if the future is unfolding right now… what decisions can you make consciously?
Not tomorrow.
Not when you feel ready.
Not when it feels safer.
Now.
Journal Prompts
Take a moment with these:
1. What past emotions am I recycling on autopilot?
(Fear? Guilt? Resentment? Worry?)
2. Am I thinking from my past, or am I creating from the present?
3. What's one choice I've been avoiding that would shift my path forward?
4. If my future is being built right now, what am I actively building today?
5. What would I do differently if I truly believed the future is now?
Listen again. Let it land.
